Have you ever read a book or poem that made you curious about the writer's life or the inspiration behind their words?
Classical writers have always drawn me for their masterful weaving of metaphors into their stories. Charles Dickens' characters are very descriptive, and one of my favourites is Miss Havisham from Great Expectations. I have often wondered who inspired her character? During my trip to the Isle of Wight this year, it thrilled me to uncover a fascinating tidbit about the island's connection to Dickens that shed some light on Miss Havisham. The renowned author had a special connection with Margaret Dick, a resident of the area. As a jilted bride, she sought refuge in the attic, isolating herself from the outside world. Was she his inspiration? There are alternative theories regarding her true identity, proposing that she could be a fusion of multiple individuals.

My blog posts are a tapestry woven with the vibrant colors of the places I've explored, the eclectic characters I've encountered, the heart-wrenching tales of human tragedy, the battles with health issues, the whispers of death, and the ethereal presence of ghosts. I hope you enjoy reading about the inspiration behind my characters and places; it will enhance your experience of my stories and poems.
